Tripadvisor, the world’s largest travel platform is preparing to launch its new service ‘Reco’, a service aimed to connect travellers directly to “travel designers” to plan and book their trip.
The service which is currently a beta test in the U.S. will be available through desktop as well as a smartphone app, currently available for Apple devices.
To use the service, travelers will need to share their trip requirements like destination, budget, adventure, etc. Upon analysing this information, Reco will connect them to a variety of expert travel designers to chose from. This service will come at a fee of $199 per trip to the traveller.
The travel designers will be screened based on several criteria such as identity verification, reviewing of any professional licenses/accreditations, review of host agencies / other certifying organisations, live interviews, etc.
With a similar service already being provided in India by Travel Triangle, it will be interesting to see in future, if and how Reco places itself in the Indian market, and if tourism sector will get to see more innovation coming its way to boost tourism
