In this corona crisis when international tourism is set aloof, 6 participants, with the message of VOCAL FOR LOCAL and promotion of domestic tourism, have begun a road trip on 18th September from Surat. This trip will be for 36 days covering 18000 KMS.
Upon their arrival in Delhi, the group was welcomed by Mr. PP Khanna, President ADTOI, and Ms. Geeta Maheshwari, President IAHRC, and several members of the tourism fraternity

Mr. Rajiv Shah (56)from Surat stated that “No sector has been spared from the economic downfall brought up by this pandemic & the travel industry has also been badly hit. Now as we begin to Unlock in phases and everything is falling back to the place, the travel industry also deserves the speed to boost back. Currently, international travel is not possible and with an endeavour to support the message VOCAL FOR LOCAL & persuade Indians to travel domestically, we have commenced this Road trip of 18,000 kms within 36 days.”
He said that it’s completely safe to travel with precautions and applauded the efforts being put in place by the hospitality sector to ensure the safety of all their guests. ” In our experience, All the hotels, restaurants, and even the small eateries, have taken measures to maintain social distancing and have carried proper sanitisation. Our journey has been very smooth, as there were no entry restrictions at any borders in the distance we have covered so far
Other participants along with Mr. Shah are Mr. Thomas Koshy( 48), Mr. Ritesh Parekh(45), Mr. Sanjay Patel(45), Mr. Nitin Gupta(37) all from Surat, from Ahmedabad & Mr. Pawan Dubey(38) From Mumbai. They will be going to the 4 corners ( Koteshwar in the west, Leh in the north, Tezu in East and Kanyakumari in South) of India and Capitals of 34 States & Union Territories.

They will also meet the media, the local travel fraternity friends, and agents. Besides they will also motivate people to begin domestic travel by revealing how all hotels & destinations are COVID ready & looking forward to welcoming tourists with utmost health & safety measures. This expedition will enable people to slowly & gradually begin travelling & the travel industry will revive thereafter for sure.
