New Delhi: The Supreme court of India, in its verdict on the airlines’ refund case, has accepted the recommendations made by DGCA for airfare refunds. The verdict directs airlines to issue refunds to the travel agents wherever the tickets were booked by them. The Verdict has brought a major relief to the travel agents.
The judgment that was given by the bench of justices Ashok Bhushan, RS Reddy, and MR Shah also gave the airlines an option to create a transferable credit shell in the name of passenger that they can avail on any route before 31st march 2021.
Several airlines including Vistara and Air Aisa had opposed the governments proposal of full refund saying most of the guests preffered a credit shell.
