India’s Lakshadweep islands are set to become home to three luxury Maldives Style water villas.
As a part of its engagement in developing sustainable eco-tourism projects in the islands, the Local administration, has floated global tenders for Three premium projects in Minicoy, Kadmat and Suheli Islands at a cost of INR 800 crore.
The Request for Proposal (RFP) document is inviting private entities as bidder for these projects to be developed as a public private partnership on Design, Build, Finance, Operate and Transfer basis. The Lakshadweep Administration will also be facilitating the concessionaire in obtaining applicable permits according.
“In a first of its kind initiative in the country, three premium water villa projects are identified in Minicoy (150 keys, project cost of INRs 319 crore), Suheli (110 keys, INR 247 crore) and Kadmat (110 keys, INR 240 crore) islands, based on comprehensive location suitability analysis, technical and financial feasibility and project structuring” the administration said in a statement given to economic times.
