No More e-Visas for Canadian & UK Nationals; Can Apply for Sticker Visa

Related

The Indian government has withdrawn the e-visa facility for Canadian and British citizens from the first week of August 2021.

The decision is being seen as a reciprocal treatment for citizens of these countries. Both the UK and Canadian governments have imposed several restrictions on the entry of Indians to their country post covid, causing them inconvenience.

Several requests were made to the respective embassies to look into the issue and resolve it, but to no avail, said a senior official of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA).

The official said that the tourist visas to India are already suspended. Those from UK and Canada who wish to visit India for other purposes will need to apply for the regular sticker visa.

The e-visa facility was also denied to the Chinese citizens after violent clashes with personnel from the People’s Liberation Army of China (PLA) killed 20 Indian soldiers in the Galwan valley last year.
