Goa wants the richest tourists to visit, but not those who cook food in the buses or consume drugs said the state Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar on Tuesday. He was talking to ANI about how the tourism industry can be revived after the lockdown.
He said that all tourists are welcome but they need to respect the culture of Goa while enjoying themselves. He also said that the BJP government in the state is completely against drugs.
Amending the state tourism law on January 31, 2019, the state assembly made cooking and drinking alcohol in public places, including beaches, and breaking glass bottles in public, a criminal offence with fines of Rs. 2000.
The Goa tourism industry might get a fillip as fresh tourist visas are being given from October 15 to tourists coming to India on chartered flights. Foreign tourists coming via other flights can enter from November 15 only, on fresh tourist visas.
